Film Festivals…

(here we come!)

My short film Dying for Love is gearing up for its first ‘festival run’ so now I’m racing to finish final details…

The Script

First of all, THANK YOU for being one of the first subscribers! You’re part of the original crew that will be able to say you were sent the first ever Behind the Screens newsletter - Issue 001. You’re a legend!

If you’ve been out of the loop, I’ve been making a short film about my parents’ love story amidst my mom’s diagnosis of HIV in the 90s. The years of preparation and months of pre-production wrapped in March as we filmed the story from start to finish. While it’s only a short film for now, it serves as a proof of concept for the full-length feature film we aim to produce in the future (more on that coming soon!)

Now that I’ve edited the film and shown it to my close friends and family, I submitted it to film festivals around the US and the world. We already got accepted into two! One being NASHVILLE FILM FESTIVAL, and the other SIMI FILM FEST. I’m so excited for the world to finally see what I’ve been working on.

We also got the crazy news that at SIMI FILM FEST Dying for Love has been nominated for 6 awards… SIX!!! I share what categories those nominations are for in the Director’s POV video below.

Now… the NASHVILLE FILM FESTIVAL screening on September 26th is already sold out (thank you for that btw!), but if you live near Simi Valley come join us this weekend at 7:45pm on Saturday, September 19th. I’ll be there and would love to meet you! Click the link below to get your tickets.

(P.S. We’ll be showing under the “Things We Fight For” time block, so when you’re on the website, scroll down until you see that block. You’ll see Dying for Love listed in there!)

Movie Rec

TUNER by Daniel Roher

Going into this movie, I had only heard good things. When I say I was BLOWN away, it’s a harsh understatement. It felt like I was watching humans, not actors acting like humans. The story, the acting, and the editing (THE EDITING!) had me on the edge of my seat, up until the very last line. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to. NEED.

MY DAILY JOURNAL

I use this notebook every day to write down my to-do lists, thoughts, brain dumps, aspirations, and story ideas. I’ve gone through a bunch of them. It’s a repeat purchase for me; it might be for you too.

One way I express my creativity is through what I wear. This is what I’ve been loving recently:

ELWOOD TRADEMARK CAP

This has been a repeat in my wardrobe. Basically the only hat I wear at the moment. I have 3 different colors lol. Always high quality, and often sold out. Hopefully they’re still available for you.
